Why is the UFCW opposed to Whole Foods

Currently UFCW aand other Unions are boycotting Whole Foods.
Whole Foods has a very generous benefit plan- a plan that years ago UFCW would have endorsed and fought for.

Now they appear to be opposed to such a plan and they are in favor of a government run health insurance plan.
They also seem to support the opting out of any current health plans for their members and seem to have no problem if the corporations that their members belong to opt out.(Safeway, Giant Food, Shoppers etc.)
Should this happen Union members who are now covered by their employers will be subjected to an inefficient form of health coverage that may even cost them more money.

Why would the Unions support such a plan?

How about this idea:
A few years ago there was talk that Royal Ahold could legally shut down Giant for a few days, change the name to Shop and Stop- and reopen as a non-union store.
For years the main grocery stores have complained how expensive their health premiums have become.
In order to cut their expense, they could become non-union and either offer a poorer insurance plan or none at all.
If they became non-union- the union would lose millions of dollars in dues. and lose some political clout.
Perhaps-- facing such a loss of members and dues(money) the Unions struck a deal with Giant(with Safeway and Shoppers etc. to follow), that they would support the opt out plan if and this is a might if-- the stores stay unionized.

Health Care for Everyone

1.Freedom to choose doctors, plans and extras
2. Everyone must participate
3.Transportable from one state to another
4.Freedom to add special care if desired at extra pay--long term care,dental plans, eye care etc.
5. Employers will offer insurance for employees and share the cost.
How the cost is shared is up to the employer.
6.Employers with less than 5o employees can opt out of the plan a pay a fee to cover insurance for their employees .
7. Employees and employers who opt out of a private insurance plan will be placed in Medicare-the premiums for this will be 10% of their income.
.8. Doctors will be free of malpractice suits except in the case of gross negligence.
9. All premiums will be tax deductible-100%.
10.Those who join at an early age will pay lower premiums.
11. Computerized records will be kept and made available to other hospitals in case of emergency on a volunteer basis.
12. This plan will include everyone- including Federal workers, state employees, and elected officials.

This plan does not call for a massive interference of the government-it is pretty much private and self directed.

The freeing of a cold blooded murderer

What were those judges in Scotland thinking of?

They release a cold blooded terrorist for compassionate reasons, and he is welcomed in his home country-Libya as a hero.

What kind of animals are these people-they take pride when their children blow themselves up, they celebrate when innocent non-arabs are killed - remember how they danced when the World Trade buildings were detroyed.

Who are these sub-humans? Why do we protect the Iraqis when the majority do not want us there?
Why do we fight for the Afganistanis when they will not fight for themselves.?

Why aren't the other Arab countries fighting the Taliban?
It sickens me how we fight for people who hate us.
And now these mule-brained judges in Scotland release a terrorist and there is nothing we can do--or is there?

How about if we take all our troops out of the mideast and tell the arabs to fend for themselves?
How about if we withdraw from the UN- run by a bunch of ball-less diplomats who hate us - and then we foreclose on the UN and evict everyone.?
How about closing down every mosque in the United States that preaches anti Americanism?
How about evicting every Libyan diplomat in this country(are there any left)?
And the Gitmo prisoners- either return them to their own country- or execute them- they are afterall terrorist.

Bail Out Bonuses

How much longer will the people of this country put up with the lying White House and the lying members of Capitol Hill.

The White House and the Dumbocrats knew about the bonuses and perhaps even a few of the Republicans were aware of this insertion in the Bailout Bill.

Will I think there is a simple solution- forget the tax or the penalties- instead ask yourselves--Does AIG have any of the billion of dollars left or have they spent it all?
Afterall they are still in business- people are still going to work- so why, if they do have some money left over-- why don't they just write a check to the United States Government for the amount of the bonus- this wouldend anymore discussion and the Idiots on Capitol Hill who have been lying about this insertion can stop lying.

Economic Panic

Having spent the past couple of months in my cave observing and watching the election results, and reading up on local politics, and watching the pundits getting crazy about the economy- I decided to rummage through a bunch of boxes and do some research.

Well lo and behold- the current rants and raves of the conservative pundits about the fall of the American Empire sound like the same rant and raves of the pundits from the 1980's and 1990's.

Back then there was talk and writings about investing in gold and hard assets.
There were the pundits who suggested that the people start storing food, buying guns and finding an alternative place to live when all the rioting broke out.

Pundits were screaming about the large govenment deficits and the crazy spending.

Anyone interested in such info should find a copy of John Pugsleys book--"The Alpha Strategy", or read some of Kevin Phillip's books.

There were a number of articles in a variety of magazines(The National Review, etc) about the failurs of the Republican Party and the wild spending of the Democratic Party.

I believe everything happens in cycles and this is one of those cycles.

Those who follow cycles will see that this country has a number of ten year and twenty year cycles that are quite similar.
