There seems to be whole lot of people running for office this year.
Everyone thinks we need change-everyone offers new hope.
Where have I heard this before.
I have not seen or heard any specifics about what these candidates are going to do to change things.
They brag about their involvement in various social causes, their membership in numerous clubs, which is all fine and dandy-- but to quote Sean Connery in the "Untouchables"--"Now what are you going to do???"
I do not see the current crop of incumbents winning my vote for relection, yet I see no reason to vote for the new candidates seeking to replace them.
Give me a reason people-give me a reason.

The State and County Budget
The song is getting old. Maryland faces massive deficits, Montgomery County faces massive deficts etc. etc.
Despite the yearly whinning and moaning of our elected leaders the problems remain the same.
Well let me make some suggestions--
1). Raise the alcohol tax.
2). Enforce a sales tax on internet transactions- The Institute for State Studies predicts that Maryland could add an additional $600 million in revenue to its coffers.
3). Charge a $2.00 fee on all Western Union and Moneygram money transfers .
4). Sell of the Ride -On system to private investors and get the drivers and other related personnel off the public payrolls.
5).Reduce salaries of all elected officials by 10%.
6). Eliminate all perks and benefits of elected officials. They are public servants not public royalty.
7) . Put a freeze on teachers salaries.
8). Have all public employees contribute more to their pensions.
9). Sell off all county and state owned properties- this includes office buildings, parking lots and anything else that one can think of.
10). Eliminate the Corporate tax and encourage more business to move to the County and hire only County residents.
11). Make tutition to State universities, colleges and Community Colleges tax deductible.
12). Charge non- citizens a $5.00 fee for drivers licenses.
12). Make state and county aid only available to citizens.
These are a few ideas that can raise revenue for the state and county. I welcome others.
